1. In Tai Chi, the foot that is taking the bodys weight is termed the solid foot. The foot not taking body weight is termed the empty foot. To step, shift the body weight and move the empty foot.
2. In T Step, one leg takes the body weight; the tip of the other toe lightly touches the floor.
3. Take short but wide steps.
4. When lowering the arms in Commencing Form, relax one joint at a time in sequence, shoulder, elbow, and wrist. Also, lower the body at the knees and maintain the lowered stance throughout the Form.
5. When practicing Golden Rooster and Kick with the Heel, raise the foot off of the floor only a little or keep the toe lightly in touch with the floor until confident on balance.
6. Do not practice Tai Chi on a slippery floor in socks for obvious reasons.
7. When holding the imaginary ball, hold it to one side of the chest. When holding on the left, the left hand is on top - and visa versa. The arm that crosses the body is always the lower arm.
8. When pushing the palm (Brush Knee and Twist Step) the palm pushes from the rear leg. For example, pushing the right palm forward, the right leg is the rear leg.
9. When separating the palms in, Part the Wild Horses Maine, the same leg and hand are forward, e.g., left palm forward/left leg forward.
